  • A Morganton man, James Drew Ballard, has been sentenced to 6-8 years in prison for trafficking fentanyl in Catawba County and is also required to pay $550,000 in fines.  Hickory Daily Record
  • Jimmy Lee Randolph, a man with a 1990 murder conviction, pleaded guilty to assaulting two adults and a 3-year-old child with a knife in Conover.  Hickory Daily Record
  • Eleven individuals were arrested in Burke County for charges ranging from drug possession to larceny in a joint operation by local and federal law enforcement agencies.  The News Herald
