- ➤ Appalachian State Track and Field and Cross Country announced six new athletes for their 2026–27 signing class on Thursday. - ➤ App State Men’s Golf hired Newton-Conover native Holt Allison as an assistant coach on Jan. 30. The former Lenoir-Rhyne athlete, an All-American honoree, helped lead the Bears to NCAA Regional bids with three victories and eight top-10 finishes. WHKY
- ➤ Lenoir-Rhyne cancelled its weekend lacrosse game due to weather and rescheduled the season opener to Saturday, Feb. 7 at Moretz Stadium — the Bears will host national runner-up Tampa at noon. WHKY
- ➤ South Atlantic Conference coaches picked Lenoir-Rhyne men's lacrosse third with head coach Greg Paradine expecting strong play from returning top scorers — the Bears will open at home next Saturday against preseason No. 2 Tampa. WHKY
- ➤ The North Carolina High School Athletic Association released the final dual team wrestling playoff brackets for 2025-2026 with Hickory Metro teams set for Tuesday, Feb. 3 — state championships scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Novant Health Fieldhouse in Greensboro. WHKY
