ECONOMY NEWS

  • North Carolina added 14,400 construction jobs (a 5.3% increase) from December 2024 to December 2025, ranking among the top Southeast states according to federal data from the Associated General Contractors of America; some states experienced losses due to postponed projects and funding issues.  Go Foothills

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, Feb. 8, Lenoir-Rhyne rallied from a six-run deficit to beat Columbus State 16-11 at Durham Field with seven consecutive scoring innings. Mackenzie Wainwright led with a 3-for-4 performance and four RBIs in the comeback win.  WHKY
  • The Lenoir-Rhyne men’s lacrosse team fell 13+10 to second-ranked Tampa on Saturday at Moretz Stadium, with Owen Scott registering a career-high four goals. The Bears will travel to Winter Park next Saturday to face Rollins at 1:00 p.m. ET.  WHKY
  • The No. 25 Lenoir-Rhyne women’s basketball team beat UVA Wise 89–86 at Shuford Arena on Saturday, extending their winning streak to 13. Aaliyah El’s game-winning basket with one second left kept the Bears in first place in the South Atlantic Conference.  WHKY
  • Lenoir-Rhyne men’s and women’s swim teams finished fourth overall at the South Atlantic Conference Championships on February 8. The men’s 200-yard freestyle relay broke the school record with a time of 1:23.10 — a standout effort amid strong individual performances.  WHKY
  • Yesterday, Feb. 8, the Lenoir-Rhyne indoor track team set two school records at Carolina Classic when Mackenzie Pringle jumped 12.24 meters and Havyn Spain ran the 400 in 47.11 seconds. Coach Bob Braman said the team gained momentum before upcoming meets.  WHKY
  • On Sunday, Feb. 8, the Lenoir-Rhyne softball team lost two close games at Mount Olive, with Alexandria Gray + Madison Primm each homering. They will host Belmont Abbey at McCrorie Family Stadium Wednesday, Feb. 11.  WHKY
