- ➤ Catawba Valley Medical Center added a new linear accelerator to its radiation oncology program to reduce patient treatment time and increase precision. The upgrade is expected to improve image quality for more efficient care. Hickory Daily Record
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, Feb. 15, the CVCC men’s basketball team won its eighth straight game at the Tarlton Complex by defeating Johnston Community College 98-60 with KJ Burke scoring 19 points. The team will play Guilford Tech Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Jamestown. WHKY
- ➤ On Feb. 15, the App State women's tennis team lost a close 4-3 match to Mercer after a tiebreak on Court 2 decided the contest. The team will host Austin Peay on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the App State Tennis Courts at the Appalachian 105 Complex. WHKY
- ➤ Lenoir-Rhyne’s men’s lacrosse team won 13-12 in overtime on Saturday after Owen Scott scored the game-winning goal against Rollins. They will play Lees-McRae (Moretz Stadium) at 12:00 p.m. Saturday to improve their record. WHKY
- ➤ The Lenoir-Rhyne women's tennis team opened their Spring season with a 6-1 win over Francis Marion on Feb. 15 (winning five of six singles matches) and will host Converse (first serve at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday) at home. WHKY
- ➤ The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears swept Wingate on Saturday with wins of 5-2 and 3-2, capturing the SAC opening series. They will face USC Beaufort for the first time ever Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. from Durham Field. WHKY
- ➤ Lenoir-Rhyne track teams broke school records this past weekend at the VMI Winter Classic and the ASIC Sound Invitational — Lewis Budgen set a new 5000m mark and Mackenzie Pringle improved her triple jump record — and they will now prepare for the SAC Championships Feb. 28 to Mar. 1. WHKY
- ➤ Lenoir-Rhyne men's tennis won a 5-2 match against Francis Marion Saturday in their Spring season opener + the Bears will travel to Wilson next Friday to face Barton College with first serve at 2:00 p.m. WHKY
- ➤ Lenoir-Rhyne Softball lost both games of a doubleheader at USC-Aiken on Saturday, Feb. 15; Lani Warren hit a three-run home run in game two and Autumn Joyce recorded three hits overall. The Bears will host Erskine on Wednesday with first pitch at 2:00 p.m. from McCrorie Stadium. WHKY
