  • Allen Dale Bivens was arrested for a fatal hit and run that killed Donald Steven Ricker, a bicyclist in Catawba County, with Bivens facing Felony Hit and Run and Failure to Report an Accident charges.  Go Foothills
  • Nathaniel Hastens Wood, 35, was arrested by Hickory Police for drug trafficking, including charges related to opium or heroin, and is held on $7,000 bond.  WHKY
  • 56-year-old Troy Carl Werkheiser was arrested in Catawba County for opium or heroin trafficking and is held without bond.  WHKY
  • A 37-year-old woman from Marion was arrested for drug-related charges including possession of a controlled substance.  WHKY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hickory City Schools sees a 6-7% increase in meal program participation for both breakfast and lunch in its second year of offering free meals to all students.  Hickory Daily Record
