EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Hickory Christian Academy student Samuel Yount has been appointed to West Point (a process that requires a nomination from a member of Congress) after completing a rigorous application, and he will start his studies at the academy soon. Hickory Daily Record
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Lenoir-Rhyne men’s tennis team dominated Emory & Henry on March 5 by winning 7-0 and sweeping all six singles matches to improve to 5-0. They will head to St. Augustine next Wednesday with first serve set for 2:00 p.m. WHKY
- ➤ On March 5, Lenoir-Rhyne men's basketball won 88-80 over Emory and Henry in the SAC quarterfinals with Conrad Luczynski scoring 24 points — breaking the team's blocks record. The Bears will play Friday's semifinals at 7:30 p.m. at Rock Hill Sports and Events Center. WHKY
- ➤ On March 5, LR women's lacrosse earned a 20 to 2 win over Emory & Henry in SAC play as Kirra Olson became the 11th player to score 100 career goals with two first quarter goals, while Addie Hale and Hannah Thomas added key plays and the team forced 27 turnovers. WHKY
- ➤ Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Basketball lost 79-63 to the Anderson Trojans on March 5 in the SAC Quarterfinals, ending a 19-game winning streak. The Bears now will await Selection Sunday to learn their Southeast Regional seed. WHKY
- ➤ The Lenoir-Rhyne women’s tennis team swept Emory and Henry 7-0 on March 5, improving to 6-0 on the season. The Bears will travel to Due West to face Erskine on Friday. WHKY
