- ➤ App State Baseball rallied in the ninth to beat Presbyterian 7-5 on Friday. The teams will face off again Saturday in Hickory + first pitch is at 1 p.m. WHKY
- ➤ Lenoir-Rhyne Softball extended its win streak to 10 with a sweep of California (PA) on Friday, March 7, led by Kaylan Brown’s 3-for-3 effort and a two-run blast from Erin Lookabill; the Bears will host UNC Pembroke on Monday at McCrorie Family Stadium. WHKY
- ➤ Local high school baseball teams posted scores from Friday, Mar. 6 with Hickory scoring 4 runs while Fred T. Foard, Maiden, and other schools in the Western Foothills Conference reported their results in both conference and non-conference play — complete tallies followed post-match. WHKY
- ➤ On Saturday, the Bears improved to 2-0 in the South Atlantic Conference with a 12-9 win over Newberry, led by Abbey Walker who posted 3 goals + 2 assists; the win snapped a four-game losing streak and the team will travel to Florida on Thursday to face Embry-Riddle. WHKY
- ➤ LR baseball lost its series opener to Mars Hill 6-5 in extra innings Friday after a two-run RBI single tied the game + Seth Christmas hit his sixth home run, and the teams will finish the series in a doubleheader Saturday. WHKY
- ➤ Lenoir-Rhyne’s men’s basketball team lost 96-89 to Catawba on Friday after trailing by 16 at halftime. Tyler Burraston led with 17 points while Conner Tilley scored 13 on a perfect five-shot run (highlighting the team’s early struggles) in the SAC semi-finals. WHKY
- ➤ On Friday, the Lenoir-Rhyne women’s tennis team stayed undefeated with a 6-1 win over Erskine. The Bears will travel Wednesday to St. Augustine for a match against Flagler, with first serve scheduled at 10:00 a.m. WHKY
