- ➤ The North Carolina Department of Revenue has begun processing 2025 Individual Income Tax returns; taxpayers have started receiving refunds via mail & direct deposit since March 9. The department also offers a refund-tracking application online and encourages e-filing for faster processing. Go Foothills
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Lenoir-Rhyne University will host its 12th annual healthcare symposium “Called to Care: Holistic Health in Changing Times” on Thursday, March 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Belk Centrum (on the Hickory campus) to offer practical insights on whole-person care. WHKY
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Lenoir-Rhyne Softball swept a doubleheader against UNC Pembroke on March 9 with walk-off hits and early home runs that boosted the Bears to an 11-game win streak. The team will travel to face King on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. WHKY
- ➤ The City of Hickory announced the Unifour Senior Games for adults ages 50 which will run March 31 through May 22 — featuring athletic and arts events. Registration is online until March 17 and the opening ceremonies will be held Tuesday, April 14, at 10 a.m. at Highland Recreation Center. WHKY
- ➤ Lenoir-Rhyne's women's basketball team qualified for the NCAA tournament with a #2 seed and will face Augusta Friday at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, while the men's team earned a #4 seed and will play North Georgia Saturday at Anderson University. WHKY
