- ➤ Maiden Police arrested 34 year old Daisha Samone Williams—the second suspect in a preschool child abuse investigation—and charged her with misdemeanor counts for failing to report a crime, assault on a child under 12 and child abuse. WHKY

- ➤ Hickory City Council will meet in regular session on Tuesday, April 15 at 6 p.m. at the Julian G. Whitener Municipal Building (76 North Center Street) to hold a second vote on reducing the speed limit to 25 mph along designated sections of 4th Street NW. The agenda also includes a resolution on condemning properties for a multi-use trail, contract approval for the city’s raw water intake system valued at $613,618, acceptance of a $660.32 grant from Keep Catawba County Beautiful, and review of a proposed backflow prevention program.
