- ➤ Recovery efforts on Wilson Creek continued as the NC Department of Transportation performed critical repairs on Brown Mountain Beach Road and motorists were asked to avoid the area for safety—delays were expected. The U.S. Forest Service closed the Wilson Creek Day Use Area and Harper Creek Falls, canceling parking, stair access, swimming and fishing until the area is deemed safe or until September 1. WHKY
- ➤ Section of Old Lenoir Road in Hickory will close for 2-3 months for construction of the OLLE Art Walk trail—designed to connect City Walk, Riverwalk and Aviation Walk segments of the Hickory Trail. Hickory Daily Record
- ➤ The IRS postponed North Carolina tax deadlines to Sept. 25, 2025 due to Hurricane Helene, extending deadlines for individual returns, quarterly taxes & payroll filings; taxpayers with an IRS address in the disaster area get automatic relief while others should call the IRS for help.
