- ➤ The Granite Falls Police Department and Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office will join the Dunkin’ Community Cups Campaign at the Dunkin’ store on 31 Pinewood Road in Granite Falls today to benefit Special Olympics of North Carolina; visitors can make donations and mark a patrol car with a donut icon. - ➤ Hickory Police arrested David Allen Page, 42, for felony larceny charges at his 12th Street N.E. home before 9:30 p.m. on April 21 — he was jailed at the Catawba County Detention Facility with a $5,000 bond and had a court date in Newton on April 24. WHKY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Several Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute students earned honors at the SkillsUSA North Carolina Championships held in Greensboro in April, winning silver, bronze, and gold medallions for their CNC machining skills + the college was recognized for doubling its student participation this year. - ➤ The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office will hold a hiring event for Detention Officer positions on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the detention facility parking lot at 100 Government Avenue in Newton—no prior experience is needed and the job offers a nearly $44,000 starting salary with full benefits along with free grilled hot dogs, chips, and drinks.
