  • Hickory High School students explored the Jacob Fork tributary of the Catawba River at South Mountains State Park on April 17 while releasing trout and finding aquatic animals and insects during the field trip.  Hickory Daily Record

  • Lenoir-Rhyne Softball clinched the SAC Regular Season title on Friday, Apr. 25 with wins of 7 to 1 and 6 to 5 over Carson-Newman, finishing 37 to 11 and marking their 13th title and first since 2018 — coach Shena Hollar reached 1,100 wins as the Bears will host the tournament opening round on May 1 and 2.  WHKY
  • Lenoir-Rhyne baseball split a doubleheader Friday, losing 17-8 in game one & winning 8-0 in game two as Kellen Gradisar pitched a seven-inning shutout while clinching the conference tournament's three seed; the Bears will play a solo game at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow.  WHKY
