- ➤ Early Saturday morning, April 26, investigators from the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division stopped a vehicle on US Highway 321 and seized 60 grams of fentanyl, 3 grams of methamphetamine, two firearms (one reported stolen from Lincoln County) and drug paraphernalia while arresting 35-year-old Nicholas James Shoup and 32-year-old Tracy Shane Campos; both suspects had their first court appearance on April 28. - ➤ Maiden Police arrested 31-year-old Summer Leann Hoyle of South D Avenue Extension on felony charges for possessing a schedule II controlled substance and drug paraphernalia; she was taken to Catawba County Detention Facility with a $7,500 bond (court date set for today). WHKY

- ➤ Attorney General Jeff Jackson is warning North Carolina homeowners to watch for contractor fraud as they rebuild from Hurricane Helene today. - ➤ At the latest Catawba County Board of Commissioners meeting, commissioners approved a funds transfer of $2,937,305.23 for repairs at Maiden Middle and a new roof at Maiden High School.
