- ➤ The USGS reported that a 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck near the Tennessee border on May 10 and was felt across Hickory Metro counties. The quake occurred about 12 miles southeast of Greenback at 9:04 a.m. with a depth of 16 miles—no damage was reported by Saturday afternoon. WHKY
