- ➤ Granite Falls Police arrested 20-year-old Robert Norman Tucholski III of 4th Street Court S.W. in Hickory on May 14 after officers responded to complaints at Woodlane Street Apartments and saw him moving suspiciously—he now faces nine felony and three misdemeanor warrants and is held at Catawba County Detention Facility with a bond set at $49,000. - ➤ 55-year-old Derek Alphonzo Mccormick from 2nd Avenue SW in Hickory was arrested this morning—charged with possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a parole violation—and is held at the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $3,000 bond with a District Court date scheduled today. Department of Revenue will start administering a new Transportation Commerce Tax later this year—ride service providers must collect 1.5% on exclusive rides and 1.0% on shared rides starting July 1.
