- ➤ The Hickory Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism Department will host its annual Bike Safety Rodeo with the Hickory Police Department on Saturday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hickory Elks Lodge in downtown Hickory, where families will test bike safety skills, play games, and have bikes inspected by officers — with support from the Hickory Velo Club and Hickory Elks Lodge 1654. - ➤ Hickory City Manager Warren Wood presented his Fiscal Year 2025-2026 recommended budget of $159,075,833 to the City Council on May 20 — the proposal increases overall spending by 9.9% and includes changes to the property tax rate, water and sewer charges, and a monthly sanitation fee.
