- ➤ The Catawba County Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting Monday, June 2, at 6:50 p.m. at the Meeting Room on the second floor of the Catawba County Justice Center at 100 Government Drive in Newton—where they will adopt the annual Southeastern Catawba County Water and Sewer District budget for fiscal year 2025 to 2026. - ➤ Hickory City Council will meet Tuesday, June 3 at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers at City Hall—while the Citizens Advisory Committee will meet Thursday, June 5 at noon in the same location—to hold public meetings. WHKY

- ➤ Lenoir-Rhyne baseball won a 15-11 game against East Stroudsburg to open the NCAA Division 2 Baseball Championships at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary on May 30. Pitcher Andrew Harlow earned the win as his team moves into the winners bracket and will play the winner of Northwood or Central Missouri on Sunday at 6 p.m. WHKY
- ➤ Volunteers are sought for the upcoming Men’s 40+ State Tennis Tournament in and around Hickory from June 19th to June 22nd & the event will need at least two volunteers per shift across 10 sites, including seven high schools and other local venues. Each volunteer must commit to a minimum five-hour shift & training for volunteers and coordinators will take place the week of the tournament. WHKY
