  • On Tuesday, June 24th, the State Board of Elections will move about 34,000 voters registered with the Constitution, Justice for All, No Labels, and We the People parties to unaffiliated status—after these parties lost official recognition for not meeting the 2% vote threshold in the 2024 general election.  WHKY
  • The N.C. Labor Commissioner, Luke Farley, announced the 'Beat the Heat' campaign today to help employers and workers avoid heat-related illnesses during high summer temperatures. The initiative offers tools—a heat safety calculator, a real-time heat index app, hazard alerts, training videos, and QR code cards for quick resource access—to guide safe work practices.  WHKY

  • High temperatures are expected to reach the 90s in Greater Hickory Metro for the next three days, and state officials advise residents to drink water and use air conditioners to stay safe.
