Good morning, Hickory.

Hickory’s inaugural Poet Laureate Scott Owens is featured in the state’s Poetry in Plain Sight program as his poem 'Cicada' is on display at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library throughout July — part of a statewide effort to bring poetry into everyday public spaces alongside other North Carolina poets.

Duke Energy proposed a large load tariff that will require data centers and massive energy users to pay a minimum monthly bill for 10 years (a change designed to protect residential rates by replacing confidential contracts).
