- ➤ Catawba County school districts face a federal funding freeze that cuts more than $1.3 million from their budgets—officials say the loss is significant for a district of their size. School leaders are reviewing budget adjustments for upcoming plans. Hickory Daily Record
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Lenoir-Rhyne women’s soccer announced the 2025 schedule and will play 18 games, including 8 non-conference and 10 SAC matches. The Bears start their season on August 27th with a game against Mount Olive— and they will host 11 matches at home, including a five-game stretch after the opener. WHKY
- ➤ Antonio Pineda from Hickory FC earned the Southeast Conference Most Valuable Player title after scoring seven goals this season, including game winners on May 19 and June 7 — his team will play in the regional finals on Saturday at 7 p.m. WHKY
