- ➤ 33-year-old Jay Michael Lowder from 2nd Avenue SW in Hickory was arrested Sunday on charges of felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor larceny and is held at the Catawba County Detention Facility with his District Court date set for today. WHKY
- ➤ On Sunday, August 10th, a Taylorsville police officer stopped 41-year-old Natasha Noel Robinette from Conover for driving with a suspended license — during the stop, officers found methamphetamine, Xanax, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia that led to felony and misdemeanor charges, and she is now held without bond at the Alexander County Detention Center with a District Court date set for today. WHKY
- ➤ Authorities in Catawba County arrested 48-year-old Ryan Keller McCree from Jim Beard Road in Maiden on Saturday, August 9, on charges of possessing methamphetamine — felony possession of cocaine and a stolen motor vehicle, and he is set to appear in District Court today under a $15,000 bond. - ➤ North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson launched Operation Robocall Roundup today to crack down on illegal robocalls as part of a multistate effort led by 51 AGs—he sent warning letters to 37 voice providers and 99 downstream providers that did not follow FCC rules. In a separate step—working with the FCC and through a court order, enforcement actions will remove noncompliant providers from the Robocall Mitigation Database and bar a voice provider from operating, with penalties exceeding $5 million. - ➤ On Sunday, August 10, the Crawdads fell 1-0 after Columbia scored in the eighth when Ismael Agreda pitched six innings with one hit and eight strikeouts—ending a three-game win streak. The team will travel to Charleston on Tuesday night to begin a six-game road trip against a Class-A affiliate. WHKY
- ➤ Michael Bumgarner won both 40-lap late model races Saturday night at Hickory Motor Speedway. Next week the track will host the SunDown Audio Competition and racing will resume on August 23 with twin 40-lap contests for late models — with other series running races as well. WHKY
