- ➤ Newton Police arrested 26-year-old Makayla Destiny Williams on Tuesday (August 12) on Iredell County drug warrants charging her with multiple controlled substance offenses and she remains in the Catawba County Detention Facility without bond while scheduled to appear in Iredell County District Court Tuesday. - ➤ 30-year-old Jonathan Avery Blatch of 1st Street SE in Hickory was arrested by police this morning and charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill—he is held without bond and must appear in District Court today. WHKY
- ➤ On August 7, investigators from Burke County Sheriff’s Office, Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, Hickory Police Department, and North Carolina Department of Public Safety pursued 60-year-old Kenneth Otto Jones of Morganton after he fled on Interstate 40 and discarded suspected drugs near Clarks Creek — his arrest led to the recovery of over 1,015 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, cash, and drug items — and a later search of his home uncovered additional evidence with charges filed for trafficking methamphetamine, felony flee, and related offenses.
