CRIME NEWS

  • 34 year old Brittany Danielle Triplett from Jim Beard Road in Maiden was arrested this morning by Hickory Police for methamphetamine possession + she is held at the Catawba County Detention Facility without bond + her District Court hearing is set for today.  WHKY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Tonight, the HUB Station hosts its Third Thursday event on the front lawn—Pressley Laton will perform country and rock tunes for the community while 3 Drinks Down serves craft beverages and dinner from 4-9pm.  Go Foothills

EDUCATION NEWS

  • With the new school year starting next week in Catawba Valley/Unifour, drivers must be alert when school buses show yellow flashing lights—that signals the bus is about to load or unload students and red flashing lights with a stop-arm mean drivers must stop, as not stopping is a Class 1 misdemeanor with a $500 fine and added points on licenses and insurance.  Go Foothills
  • Most Catawba County schools will welcome students on August 25 with free breakfast — as all students will receive free lunch.  Hickory Daily Record

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Hickory Crawdads won 7-1 on Wednesday night at LP Frans Stadium—scoring six runs in the seventh inning against the Lynchburg Hillcats. They took the field as the Llamas de Hickory for the final time in 2025 on Thursday when Aneudis Mejia went opposite Will McCauland at 7 p.m.  WHKY
