CRIME NEWS

  • Preston Lee Miller, 28, from Brown Dog Court NW in Conover was arrested on August 26 and charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia—he was jailed under a $5,000 bond—while a District Court hearing was scheduled on the same day.  WHKY
  • An 18-year-old man from English Oak Drive in Lincolnton was arrested on August 25 on felony and misdemeanor charges involving attempted robbery and discharging a weapon into occupied property — his District Court hearing took place on August 26 and another is set for September 8 as he remains in Catawba County Detention Facility on a $6,000 bond.  WHKY

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Soccer team was selected by conference coaches to finish first in the South Atlantic Conference — with Guillermo Garcia and David Grifell named to the preseason all-conference team — and will open their season with a home game on September 6th followed by a SAC contest on September 11th.  WHKY
