GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today Hickory’s Riverwalk overwater bridge is closed for electrical repairs on its lighting system and conduit that were damaged by Hurricane Helene—this work will take four to six weeks. The rest of the elevated trail stays open from Hickory City and Rotary-Geitner parks.  WHKY

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, Lenoir-Rhyne won a close football game 31-28 against Emory and Henry in Hickory after Daniel Deneen Jr. kicked a 32-yard field goal to break a 28-28 tie late in the fourth quarter. Khamoni Robinson had 180 passing yards and 154 rushing yards before leaving with an injury—helping the Bears improve their all-time record—while the team prepares for next week's game.  WHKY
  • The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Soccer team overcame Lincoln Memorial 3-1 after staging a second-half comeback—Nicole Auger scored two goals while Alexis Cagno netted the game-winning goal to extend the Bears’ six-game unbeaten streak against LMU.  WHKY
  • On Saturday, September 14, 2025, the Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball team split two matches at Flager Classic by defeating Lees-McRae 3-1 and then falling 3-0 to Ashland, with Kayli Cleaver earning 23 kills on the day + Brooke Aeschliman adding 16 in the win. The team is 6-2 for the season and will host SAC play against Anderson on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in Hickory.  WHKY
  • At Lake Davidson Triathlon on September 14, the Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Triathlon Team finished fourth out of 11 teams while Zoila Sicilia came in third overall with a 57:56.52 time and an 18:04 5K run — her personal best. The Bears will compete at the Robius Landing triathlon in Midlothian on September 28 as their final tune-up before the East Regionals.  WHKY
