  • The University City Commission joined Hickory’s Litter Quitter program to bring students together for a shared cause—helping to keep the streets clean.  Hickory Daily Record

SPORTS NEWS

  • On October 13, Lenoir-Rhyne beat Newberry in four sets as senior Kayli Cleaver set a career high with 23 kills — her strong play helped the Bears overcome an early lead by the Wolves.  WHKY
  • The Lenoir-Rhyne men’s soccer team beat Coker on Saturday with a 57th minute goal by Voro Rivera Peris—this win marks their second straight victory since September 24th. They will face Mars Hill at 7:30 p.m. in Hickory on Wednesday.  WHKY
  • Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Soccer finished with a scoreless draw against Coker on October 13th as goalie Riley Miller made five key saves and the team had many strong chances — snapping a 13-game win streak against Coker. They hold a record of 7 wins, 3 losses and 1 tie and will host Mars Hill from Hickory next Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.  WHKY
  • On October 13, Lenoir-Rhyne football fell 35-28 to Anderson after a comeback effort was undone by costly turnovers that led to long scoring drives; the Bears dropped to a 3-4 overall record and will prepare for their homecoming contest against UVA Wise next week.  WHKY
  • The Lenoir-Rhyne men’s and women’s swim teams opened conference competition on October 13th at Wingate—winning 153-92 and 158-82—and they will travel to Mars Hill on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. to face the Lions.  WHKY
  • Coaches have picked the Lenoir-Rhyne men’s and women’s swim teams to finish fourth in the South Atlantic Conference—both teams began competing in Hickory with the women winning at Converse and will face Mars Hill on Saturday.  WHKY
