EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Catawba County Board of Education adopted a resolution on October 16 (which protects current legal and geographical boundaries) to keep students in their home school district. The board will share the resolution with county officials (as it addresses boundary concerns raised by a neighboring board) during upcoming town hall meetings. WHKY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Regional Housing Authority has received $1.2 million to expand its housing assistance — based on an average cost of $594 per unit the funds will help about 128 families over the next year. Hickory Daily Record
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The North Carolina High School Athletic Association finalized the volleyball playoff brackets for the 2025 postseason with all games starting on October 18th and state championships set on October 31st and November 1st. Hickory area teams such as Hickory, the top seed in the west, secured first round byes — additional matchups will follow for other classifications. WHKY
