EDUCATION NEWS

  • LR University president — the first woman to lead the school — said she will share plans for campus upgrades and a new pinball attraction that aim to highlight Lenoir-Rhyne's strengths. Her announcement comes as she prepares to tell the world the story of a great school.  The News Herald

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Friday, November 7th, high school football playoffs saw in 4A that Bandys won 71—14 over South Rowan and Fred T. Foard edged Lake Norman Charter 21—19, setting up second-round games with the Trojans set to face Stuart Cramer and the Tigers to meet Newton-Conover on the road. In 6A, Tuscola won 13—6 over East Burke, A.C. Reynolds beat South Caldwell 56—0, St. Stephens advanced with a 24—23 overtime win over Mount Tabor heading to Watauga, and Statesville defeated Alexander Central 28—3 as the Cougars' season ended at 3—8.  WHKY
  • Lenoir-Rhyne won 3 to 0 in a match at Emory and Henry on November 8 — Addison Vary led with nine kills and strong hitting helped boost the Bears. The team now holds a 19-5 record and will travel to Coker on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. to try to complete their season sweep over the Cobras.  WHKY
  • On Friday, the App State volleyball team lost to Marshall in four sets — senior Ali Morris passed 1,000 career kills. The team will play home matches against Troy on Nov. 14 and 15 — with Senior Night and Faculty & Staff Night events planned.  WHKY
