- ➤ Eight fire departments from Catawba + Caldwell + Alexander counties are working to control a wildfire, with officials assessing the situation for further risks. Hickory Daily Record
- ➤ Catawba County Utilities & Engineering urges residents to recycle used cooking oil after frying turkey to create locally-made biodiesel—residents should let the oil cool and drop it off at designated convenience centers during operating hours—. The free, year-round program is open to county residents only and does not accept business waste. WHKY

- ➤ Lenoir-Rhyne volleyball won 3-0 against Lincoln Memorial on November 14th for its 20th season win — the team honored seniors Emmaleigh Allen, Leah Hinceman, Hadley Prince, Kayli Cleaver, Lyndsie Warren, Adair Rodemaker, and Kendall Keaton. WHKY
- ➤ Seven players from Lenoir-Rhyne women’s soccer earned spots on the All-SAC Teams, placing second to Catawba; Katie Durham led the first team with nine goals and seven assists and midfielder Ava Hartman made her second first-team appearance. Midfielder Carola Busquets earned her fourth consecutive second-team honor—Nicole Auger, Mya Rivera, Rosa Gonzalez, and Ingrid Krakhellen were named to the third team. WHKY
- ➤ Lenoir-Rhyne men's soccer upset Anderson in an 8 to 7 penalty shootout on Nov. 14 after a 1 to 1 tie and double overtime where goalkeeper Tomas Fontes made key saves, and they will play the winner of Lincoln Memorial and Emory & Henry tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. in Matthews for the SAC championship. - ➤ The Lenoir-Rhyne men’s soccer team had six players named to the 2025 South Atlantic Conference All-Conference teams, tying with Emory & Henry for the second most honorees. Raul Canas and Guillermo Garcia earned First Team honors (with Canas scoring the game-winning goal on November 1) while Hector Taboada, Jonas Moos, Tomas Fontes, and newcomer Xairo Villalon received Second and Third Team nods (Villalon scoring both goals in a 3-0 win on October 15). - ➤ Newton-Conover’s soccer team advanced to the 4A West Regional finals after winning its qualifying match—coaches say the team is focused on reaching the state championship. The team will compete in the final game next and looks to build on its strong season performance. Hickory Daily Record
