  • Today, the Catawba County Schools board will vote on a nominee to fill Leslie Barnette’s term — the seat will be up for election in November.  Hickory Daily Record

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lenoir-Rhyne's volleyball team lost 3 to 0 to Wingate in the SAC Championship on November 23. Wingate's strong start and steady play earned their 15th title in 20 years — Lenoir-Rhyne now awaits its NCAA Tournament announcement later today at 7:30 p.m.  WHKY
  • The Lenoir-Rhyne women’s basketball team fell 86-83 in overtime against Belmont Abbey on November 23—Aaliyah El scored 23 points and made 13 perfect free throws to tie the game, and Lenoir-Rhyne will face USC Beaufort on Tuesday.  WHKY
  • On November 23, the CVCC women’s basketball team beat Montreat JV 87-72 at the Tarlton Complex in coach Nikky McCaskill’s debut, with J’Nya Wiley scoring 20 points (updating their record to 1-0). They will face the Belmont Abbey Developmental team Sunday at 5 p.m. (admission is $10, with free entry for students, faculty and staff).  WHKY
