GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Hickory Police Department has launched its December P.A.C.T. program today on key roads including Falling Creek Road NE and nearby avenues to check for speeding, distracted driving and tailgating. All road users are urged to follow traffic rules — a move to make our streets safer.  Go Foothills

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lenoir-Rhyne track and field teams opened their indoor season on Dec. 7 at the Winston Salem College Kickoff — three athletes hit NCAA DII provisional marks, including sophomore Havyn Spain and junior Mackenzie Pringle. They set new records at the meet and will resume competition on Jan. 17.  WHKY
  • The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball team won on Saturday night by defeating Emory & Henry 95-67 — five players scored in double digits with Conrad Luczynski leading with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and five blocks. The Bears, now on a nine-home-win streak, will play UVA-Wise next Saturday at 4:00 p.m.  WHKY
  • Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Basketball returned home Saturday after a four-game road trip and beat Emory and Henry 92-82 in overtime, led by Aaliyah El who scored 33 points — the Bears will host Catawba on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.  WHKY
  • Lenoir-Rhyne women’s soccer season ended yesterday when Florida Tech scored two late goals to defeat the Bears, who finished with a 13-5-3 record and a historic regional title run. Katie Durham scored the team’s lone goal while goalkeeper Riley Miller set a new career high with 11 saves.  WHKY
