CRIME NEWS

  • A four-county area in North Carolina, including Catawba, Iredell, Caldwell, and Alexander counties, has seen 13 officer-involved shootings since January 2023, with an unclear cause for the increase according to local law enforcement officials.  Hickory Daily Record
  • Colby Allen Wray was arrested in Conover for meth possession, drug paraphernalia possession, resisting officers, and driving with a revoked license.  WHKY
  • A 34-year-old Hickory woman was arrested for possession of heroin and methamphetamine, along with felony probation violation.  WHKY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Catawba County Board of Commissioners approved several items including financial audits, housing grants, rezoning requests, property sales, and the acquisition of emergency equipment after public hearings, with unanimous votes on most actions.  WHKY
