- ➤ Catawba Valley Medical Center was named one of the top 100 hospitals for patient experience by the Women’s Choice Award — a recognition that considers the preferences of women and highlights the center’s commitment to quality care. Hickory Daily Record
- ➤ Frye Regional Medical Center performed its 100th robotic bronchoscopy procedure as part of its commitment to early cancer detection. The hospital (serving our community) said the milestone shows its focus on advanced technology for better patient care. Hickory Daily Record
- ➤ A child in western North Carolina died from the flu—the first child death this season—state epidemiologist Dr. Zack Moore said, noting that the incident shows how serious flu infections can be. The News Herald

- ➤ Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute men’s basketball team won 89-79 at home against Cleveland Community College on Dec. 19, with Jaylen Golston scoring 27 points. The Cobras led from the start and improved to a 10-2 record ahead of their Saturday home game against Forsyth Tech at 2 p.m. WHKY
