- ➤ The Glen Alpine pharmacy, which has served the community for 87 years, will close on Tuesday, Jan. 6—drug owner Jeff Czarkowski confirmed the decision. The News Herald

- ➤ The NC Department of Commerce released September jobless rates on December 24, 2025, showing lower unemployment in 98 of 100 counties; the Hickory Lenoir Morganton metro area dropped from 4% in August to 3.6%, while statewide unemployment fell from 4% to 3.7%. WHKY
