- ➤ 38-year-old Tiffany Ann Hammonds of 28th Street NE in Hickory was arrested yesterday by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers on charges of two counts each of break or enter a motor vehicle and misdemeanor larceny, along with a count of possession of stolen goods—she was jailed on an $11,000 bond with a court date set for Thursday. - ➤ 31-year-old Jessica Amber Lennox from Springs Road NE was arrested on September 2 by Hickory Police for trafficking methamphetamine and MDMA — she faces multiple felony charges and will appear in District Court on September 11 and 22 while held at the Catawba County Detention Facility on a $52,500 bond. - ➤ Hickory Police Department is enforcing the 'Pay Attention in City Traffic' plan on Falling Creek Road NE for all of September — it checks for distracted driving, speeding, and unsafe following while urging both drivers and pedestrians to be alert. WHKY
- ➤ North Carolina Governor Josh Stein signed an executive order Tuesday to boost the state’s artificial intelligence efforts by creating an AI Leadership Council, an AI Accelerator, and oversight teams in every state agency—The council, led by Teena Piccione and Lee Lilley, will guide policy and training while helping state operations adapt to new AI projects.
